How to Prepare Your Unit Before Rental Viewing
A simple landlord checklist for preparing your room, HDB flat, condo or landed home before photos and viewings.
First impression affects enquiries
Photos and viewings shape how tenants feel about the property. A clean, bright and uncluttered unit usually makes the rental conversation easier.

Before taking photos
- Remove loose items, laundry and personal clutter
- Open curtains and switch on lights
- Make the bed and tidy the room
- Show wardrobe, window, aircon and study area clearly
- For whole units, show living room, kitchen, toilet and bedrooms
Before viewing
- Confirm the viewing time and tenant profile in advance
- Prepare answers on rent, utilities, WiFi, cooking and move-in date
- Keep keys, access card and lift access ready
- For condo units, check whether security registration is needed
For vacant properties
If the unit is vacant, start marketing early and prepare basic cleanliness, lighting and access arrangements. A vacant property can feel less attractive if it looks empty, dark or unprepared.
